Marinate the chicken pieces with crushed black pepper, lemon juice, salt, yoghurt and ginger garlic paste and keep aside for 1 hour.
Next, heat the oil and butter in a flat pan and add all the whole spices. Let them splutter till you get the nice aroma of whole spices. Add the marinated chicken and fry over high heat for 1 minute. Flip the chicken pieces once they are slightly brown. Fry for another 2-3 minutes, turning the pieces several times until they are evenly brown. Add the rest of the marinade and cook over medium heat for another 5 minutes. Now reduce the heat to a minimum, add the whisked curd, 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper, green chillies and mix everything well. Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes and stir it occasionally. Cook until the liquid is almost dry and the chicken is tender. Now, sprinkle some Garam Masala powder, give it a final stir for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh, finely chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with Roti or Paratha.
