Participants / Eligibility: Bachelors in any discipline (Veterinary, Medicos, Biologists, Pharmacologist, Biochemists and other Researchers/Technicians involved in laboratory animal experimentation.
Seats: 30 Nos of Seats, Registration on first come first served basis.
Fees: Rs. 10,000/-. Fee includes course charges, Course material and Working lunch only. Participants will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.

Course type: Participants will undergo class work as well as practical training. Training will be given by the eminent Scientists/ Professors.
Course Details: The major course curriculum are:
Course work:

  • CPCSEA/IAEC Regulatory Guidelines & Animal Ethics in Laboratory Animals Research and overview of different animal models
  • Animal Import, Breeding Strategies, Feeding; management and Supply for Experiments of laboratory Animals; Standard Nomenclature of mice and rats including Genetically modified animals
  • Health Monitoring /Surveillance of Mice And Rat Colony;(Definition, importance and microbiological characteristics of laboratory animals; Microbiota and its influence in animal models; Clinical biochemistry and hematology)
  • Non-Clinical Safety Evaluation: Regulatory Protocols ( before clinical trial)
  • Prevalent infectious Agents of Rodent Colonies
  • Laboratory Animal Handling and Physical and chemical Restraint with special reference to euthanasia abiding ethics.
  • 3R’s(Replacement, Reduction and refinement) in Animal Model Research
  • Bio-methodology for Laboratory Rodents( Anesthesia and analgesia; Recognition of Pain; Animal identification, basic principles of surgery, post surgical care)
  • Human-Animal Relations and One Health Concept
  • The Laboratory Animals for High-Risk Zoonotic Virus Research
  • Genetically modified animals. Genetically defined lines of mice and rats and other rodents used in animal experiments; Genetic markers used in laboratory rodents
  • Zebra Fish Model in biomedical research and drug development
  • Introduction to Basic Statistical Concepts and its application in Animal model research
  • Good Laboratory Practice: Principles and Applications in Research

Practical sessions and demonstrations:

  1. Anesthesia Machine Use and Maintenance and Anesthesia for Rodents
  2. Aseptic Surgical Technique on laboratory Animal with special reference to anatomical exposure- Hands on training.
  3. Basic Handling and Procedures with Mice/Rats/Rabbits and Zebrafish
  4. Principles of Handling of cell cultures, reagents preparation and equipment usage for such purpose.
  5. A user-friendly animal model development for diabetes, obesity, cancer etc.
  6. Toxicological and pharmaceutical study
  7. Research on Pre-clinical drug Development

Award & Certificates: Candidates will be evaluated at the end of the training course for certification.
